space

I’ve wanted to be an astronaut since I was in Kindergarten.  One day before recess, my teacher, Mrs. Ackley, said before we went outside for recess, we had to whisper into her her ear what we wanted to be when we grew up.  When it was my turn, I whispered, “Astronaut,” and headed out to the playground, distinctly imagining that every one of my classmates must have said the same thing!  I love thinking back to that little boy -filled with wonder and excitement of seeing someone float around in space above the planet.  Not much has changed!

In March of 2020, I applied, for the first time fully qualified to the most recent opening for astronauts, which typically happens ever four years.  I’m unlikely to be considered in the next round four years from now because of my age.  So this it.

A Popular Mechanics article  I wrote about flying myself to Houston in 2016:   3600 Miles and a Dream
